Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026
In short
- BioData has no server, no account, no ads and no analytics. We never receive any of your data.
- Your results stay on your device, and in your own iCloud account only if you turn sync on.
- If you choose Private Cloud Compute to read a report, your identity is removed from it on your device first, and Apple does not keep the text.
- Apple Health data is only read, with your permission, and is never shared.
1. Who we are
BioData is an iPhone and iPad app published by Ovega (“we”). For any question about this policy or your data, write to us at contact@ovega.fr.
This policy describes what the app and this website do with your data. It applies to all versions of BioData.
2. The data the app handles
To work, BioData keeps the information you put into it:
- your lab results: values, units, reference ranges, collection dates, laboratory name, comments;
- the PDF lab reports you import;
- your sex and date of birth, if you enter them, to pick the right reference ranges;
- your custom markers and reports, notes and preferences (units, pinned markers);
- blood glucose readings from Apple Health, if you allow it (see section 5).
This is health data. It is processed only to show it to you, and only on your devices or by the Apple services described below. We never have access to it.
3. Where your data is stored
On your device
By default, everything stays on your iPhone or iPad, protected by iOS encryption and your device passcode.
In your iCloud, if you turn it on
iCloud sync is off by default. If you turn it on, your data is saved in the private database of your own iCloud account, so it is available on your other devices. We cannot access it.
- Your health values (results, labels, units, dates, laboratories, notes, sex and date of birth…) are end-to-end encrypted: neither Apple nor we can read them.
- Lab report PDFs are encrypted by iCloud, and end to end only if you have turned on Advanced Data Protection.
This storage is provided by Apple under the iCloud terms and Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Reading lab reports
Each time you import a report, you choose how it is read:
- On this device: the report is read entirely on your iPhone or iPad, by Apple Intelligence or the built-in parser. Nothing leaves the device.
- Private Cloud Compute: the text of the report is sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute servers to be read. Before it is sent, BioData removes on your device what identifies you: names, record and ID numbers, dates, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, doctor, insurer. You can see exactly what will be sent before you confirm. Apple processes the text without storing it or making it accessible to anyone, and we do not receive it.
5. Apple Health
If you allow it from BioData's settings, the app reads your blood glucose readings from Apple Health to show them with your results. BioData does not write anything to Apple Health.
Data read from Apple Health is kept in BioData like your other results (on the device, and in your iCloud if sync is on). It is never used for advertising, never sold and never disclosed to anyone. You can revoke this access at any time in the Health app › Sharing › Apps › BioData.
6. What we don't do
- No account or sign-up.
- No advertising, no tracking, no profiling.
- No analytics or third-party SDKs in the app.
- No selling or sharing of your data.
If you agreed in iOS settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
7. When you share
You can share a report as text or a PDF lab report, for instance with your doctor. Sharing goes through the iOS share sheet, to the app and the person you choose. We are not involved in that exchange.
8. Retention and deletion
Your data is kept for as long as you keep it in the app. At any time, you can:
- delete a report, a result, a custom marker or a custom report in the app; if sync is on, it is also deleted from your iCloud and your other devices;
- delete the app, which erases all its data from the device;
- delete the iCloud copy in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage › BioData.
9. Your rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to and port your data. As we hold no data about you, you exercise them directly in the app, which lets you view, correct, share and delete your data. For data stored by Apple (iCloud), please contact Apple.
For any question, contact us at contact@ovega.fr. You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country.
10. This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party content. It only remembers, in your browser, the language you picked. Our hosting provider may keep technical logs (IP address, pages requested) to run and secure the site.
11. Children
BioData sends us no data, including children's data. The app is not intended for children under 16 without a parent's consent.
12. Changes
We may update this policy, for instance when the app changes. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will mention it in the app's release notes.
